You probably already know that San Antonio is Texas' number one tourist destination. The Omni provides a great central location to unwind and explore some of the many nearby attractions in the area, including Sea World, Six Flags-Fiesta Texas, the Riverwalk and the Alamo. During our stay I found the staff to be genuinely friendly and helpful. As a first, I even received an email from the Head Concierge, Elaine Miranda prior to our arrival.

As part of the luxury chain of Omni hotels and resorts, the 19-story Omni San Antonio Hotel at the Colonnade includes a total of 326 guest rooms and suites. All of the guest rooms in the AAA four-diamond rated hotel include an evening turndown with a relaxing European decor.

Our Deluxe Guest Room

Our guest room on the 11th floor offered a king sized bed with views of the northwest part of the city. Each guest room has either a view of the Texas Hill Country, the city in the distance, or the outdoor swimming pool. Each guest room is appointed with cable TV with movies and video games on demand, couch or sitting chairs, bathrobes, work desk, dual phone lines with voicemail, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, coffeemaker with coffee and tea, and fully stocked mini fridge. Guest rooms range in size from 300 up to 1,200 square feet (the Presidential Suite on the 20th Floor).

Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access is available by registering with Omni's free Select Guest loyalty program. Some of the other initial perks when registered include complimentary morning beverages delivered to your room, newspaper of your choice, a shoe shine, and bottled water when you arrive. With more stays come greater perks, including a complimentary dessert, room upgrades, and the accruing of award points towards free nights or airline miles.


In the Lobby Bar area we enjoyed listening to the talented pianist Tony Lara as he played some great jazz and easy listening classics. A gift shop next to a large aquarium carries tshirts and all the basic necessities.


There are many hotel activities to enjoy, including an indoor heated pool, a "hydrotherapy" pool, an outdoor lap swimming pool, outdoor whirlpool, and a modern fitness center with the latest exercise equipment (plus sauna and whirlpool) and massage therapy services. A 1.3 mile walking/hiking trail meanders around the Colonnade area around the hotel. For golfers, three PGA Championship courses are situated within 10 minutes from the Omni. In the morning we enjoyed a tasty breakfast buffet in the four-diamond rated Bolo's Restaurant. Main selections include eggs made to order, bacon, sausage, fresh fruits, cereals, pastries, biscuits, and croissants. I had an entertaining conversation with Chef Roger Herrera, a local native, who told of playing around the old Missions in the area while growing up. Our server, Judy Collias, gave us friendly service while keeping us topped off with fresh coffee and fruit juice. They brought to my attention the many 19th century photographs of former businessmen in the area (many of whom nearby streets are named after). Bolo's is also open for lunch and dinner, with an extensive wine list with freshly made Texas dishes.


The Omni has 15 meeting rooms and 3 large ballrooms, over 23,000 square feet available for conventions and meetings. The Colonnade Ballroom on the 20th floor offers an inspiring view of the city skyline.

Free onsite parking is available, with valet parking available for a nominal fee. A free shuttle service is provided to the airport which is just 8 miles from the hotel.
