Desoto State Park - Alabama
Desoto State Park runs along 600-foot Little
River Canyon, one of the deepest canyons east of the Mississippi. The Lookout Mountain
Range runs through the park. Within the park is Desoto Falls which cascades down 100 feet.
Hiking and nature trails wind throughout the park. Lookout Mountain Trail follows the west
rim of the canyon for 20 miles. The park is open daily from 7 am to dusk. There are 22
rental units available. The park has 78 campsites, 20 with full hookups and the rest with
water and electric. A dump station is available. 10 of the campsites are pull-throughs.
There is a 14-day maximum stay. Facilities include restrooms and showers, public phone,
laundry, firewood, a swimming pool(fee), horseshoes, playground, boat ramp, recreation
field and freshwater fishing. For more

Directions
The park is located off I-59 southeast of Fort
Payne, AL. From the junction of Highway 35 and CR-89 go north 5 miles
on CR-89. The park is on the left.
