South Padre Island adventures
We just got back from South Padre Island, a small touristy town. Being
situated on the water, the KOA
we stayed at provided a relaxing locale for exploring the island.
Watch
a video preview for our upcoming feature on the KOA:
On
one of the evening bayside fishing charters we had some success with
catching a string of sand trout and whiting. The rain finally abated on
Tuesday and the sun came out, as we ventured to Schlitterbahn
just across the street. On one of the more adventurous tubing rides, Rio
Aventura, I learned the importance of holding on to one's tube, as I was
pulled along at one spot underwater by the whitewater currents. After
scraping both elbows I was able to get ahold of my tube and continue on.
There are numerous rides to appeal to all ages. That evening, we enjoyed
dining at Louie's Backyard,
sampling their huge selection available from their delicious seafood
buffet which included prime rib, snow crab legs, shrimp, and more. Their
signature drink, the "Whammo" I found is appropriately named.
Look
for our new features on these attractions and our new segment on South
Padre Island coming soon.
