Quick sweep through Dallas
This past week we made a quick business trip to Dallas. The city is really booming, evidence by all the cranes with building projects going on and new hotel construction. Quite amazing. As we were driving into the city, we saw a plume of smoke in the distance, which turned out to be a six alarm fire in an old 1920s vaudeville and silent picture theatre house (the Arcadia Theatre), which was converted in recent years to a combination of restaurant and shops. Sad to see something that historic destroyed. Several area businesses were destroyed in the large fire. See here for the story

The big D
This next week we head to Dallas, and will be highlighting a special feature accommodation. Dallas has been booming lately, with construction projects for new hotels going on all over the city. We visited the area last year. Be sure to read our features on Southfork Ranch and Southfork Hotel in our Texas state section. Look forward to seeing the new Dallas movie when it is released. Will be interesting to see how it differs from the old Dallas TV characters. My first visit to Southfork was back in 1988, when the oil rig was in place and I toured Larry Hagman's RV (an old Winnebago). I talked with someone yesterday who was married recently at Southfork. It has developed into quite an attraction for special events. A new feature will be posted this weekend for our Destination UK Guide. We are also slowly updating our archived pages with our new formats, and will be adding a new services section in the near future.

London Updates - Origin Restaurant and Jordans B&B
Just added is our feature on the Origin Restaurant, which the building it is in (The Hospital) was renovated by none other than by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics fame and Paul Allen of Microsoft fame. The building also includes a gallery, cinema, a full blown tv studio and more.
We also posted our feature on Jordans B&B, a quaint farmhouse, with
sections built as far back as 1500, which is really ancient by our
American standards. The house is an open hall design. In those days,
people were shorter than they are today. The main entranceway and the
kitchen have a lower ceiling, being the original sections of the house.
Vertical timber bay posts give an authentic medieval appeal, which
provide support to the corners and walls.
More to come. - Carl
